POLYSTYRENE CUTTER

USER’S MANUAL

Description

Purpose: Cutting and finishing polystyrene foams.
Operation: The transformer of the device generates extra-low voltage and uses it to heat the resistance wire to 250 – 350˚C, depending on the ambient temperature.
Polystyrene foams flow at temperatures as low as 80˚C, allowing the cutting wire to cut the material by evaporating it, with the minimum of physical contact.
This technology has a number of major advantages over traditional cutting methods (blade, saw, etc.).
A few examples: – No cutting waste is produced. It enables high-precision cutting, eliminating the problem of distortion resulting from resistance involved in physical contact. The surface of the finished materials will be perfectly smooth, as the globules are prevented from breaking off.

Safety requirements

  1. The device should only be operated from a 230V supply with contact protection fitted with a protective conductor and a 30mA current protection switch.
    2. Check the integrity of the supply cable before every use,. A faulty supply cable must not be used and should be replaced with a new one. The supply cable must also not be extended or lengthened in any way that fails to meet standards.
    3. While in use, the device should be kept away from any flammable materials and should not be left unattended when turned on.
    4. The device should be protected from strong contamination and hard impacts. Strictly avoid hitting, drilling or welding the device, or converting it in any way.
    5. Touching the heated cutting wire while operating the device is forbidden and dangerous and will cause burns.
    6. The supply cable should be disconnected from the supply before replacing the cutting wire. Only NiCr8020 ø0.65mm wires must be used with the device. The use of any other type is forbidden.
    7. The supply cable should be disconnected from the supply before replacing the fuse. Only 5X20mm/T2A glass fuses must be used. The use of any other type is forbidden.
    8. Operators must read the entire manual before using the device and must receive safety instruction regarding the use of the device.
    9. The manufacturer undertakes repairs during and after the guarantee period, and provides a continuous supply of spare parts. It is recommended that the device is repaired by a professional electrician.

Instructions for use and maintenance

Read the safety requirements very carefully, then install and use the device in compliance with the requirements as follows.
Choose a place where the machine can be installed in a secure manner. Open its leg and lean it against the wall. Verify that the main switch is in the “0” (OFF) position. Connect the device to the supply using the supply cable. Loosen the screws of both the upper and lower angle guide, then open the cutting frame. Then loosen the screws of the measuring rods and lower them. Verify that the rods are horizontal and adjust them as required using the height adjustment screws and the 10mm wrench provided.
Turn the main switch (to the „I” position) at the bottom of the machine on. Then turn the selective switch at the top of the machine to the „I” position. *F443D*
Functions: Use the upper and lower angle guide to adjust and secure the desired cutting angle. With this function, you can produce corners, ornaments and other items that require cutting at angles. Important: Adjust both angle guides to the same value, otherwise the cut will not be parallel and the tension caused by the differences may also damage the cutting frame.
The thickness adjuster is located at the centre of the cutting frame. Loosen the calibrated lever using the screw and adjust it to the desired value. With this function, you can produce and slice sheets of various thickness and make cuts of specific depth. – Ideal cutting speed EPS: 5-7mm/s, XPS: 2-3,5mm/s.
The angle gauge is located at the bottom of the machine. Use it as appropriate to produce items with a lateral angle other than 90˚, e.g. for attics and rafters.
-3D cutter: Mount it to the right side of the machine frame with the two thumb nuts included. Connect the swinging plug to the socket at the top of the machine next to the selective switch. Turn the selective switch to the „II” position. –Important: pay attention to the tension of the wiretensioning spring during adjusting the angle. *F443D*
– Maintenance: Keeping the friction bearings of the cutting frame, the angle guides and the wire tensioner clean is essential for reliable operations and for maintaining the device in a good condition. Clean these parts after every use.
– Cleaning: Use compressed air or a dry brush. Strictly avoid applying oil or silicone to these or any other parts of the device, as dust adhering to oil will cause wear.
– Replacement of the cutting wire: First, secure the cutting wire to the bottom of the device with the loop at its end.  Hook the spring on the groove at the end of the wrench provided, then pull it upwards. Then, hook the loop at the end of the wire on the spring and ensure that the wire fits in the guide wheel accurately.
– Replacement of the fuse: The fuse box is located next to the switch and is labelled “Fuse”. Turn the cap of the fuse box anti-clockwise and lift it carefully, avoiding any lateral movements to prevent the fuse from breaking. Remove the damaged fuse from the cap, replace it with a new one and use the cap to insert the fuse in the fuse box. Turn the cap clockwise until tight; avoid using too much force.
